New management team for Saarstahl Ascoval

Saarstahl Ascoval, a company of the Saarstahl Group, is reorganizing its management team. Dr. Dennis Stindt will succeed Dr. Nadine Artelt as President in April. In addition to her role at Saarstahl Rail, Dr. Artelt will be taking on the job of Sales Director at Saarstahl AG. The new management team – with Chief Finance and Administrative Officer Gijs Picard, Plant Manager Ulrich Reinstädtler and Dr. Dennis Stindt – will continue integrating the French electric steel plant into the Group as a strategically important unit for the production of CO2-reduced steel.

“We want to thank Nadine Artelt for her strong commitment and successful management of Saarstahl Ascoval,” said Jonathan Weber, Chief Transformation Officer at Saarstahl. “The new management team will continue her work and continue developing the plant strategically. With his many years of expertise in the German and French steel industry and in strategic matters, Dennis Stindt as President complements the management team of Gijs Picard and Ulrich Reinstädtler. Together, they will lead the plant into the future.”

With the appointment of Dennis Stindt, the company is sending a clear message for securing the future of the location. He has many years of experience in the steel industry and has held management positions in the areas of transformation, finance and operational excellence. Among other things, he played a responsible role in continuing development of a French rolling mill for two years. In the SHS Group (SHS – Stahl Holding-Saar), which also includes Saarstahl, Dennis Stindt was previously responsible for Business Excellence. “Saarstahl Ascoval is already producing CO2-reduced steel. The electric steel plant will therefore take on a central role in Saarstahl’s production network,” Dennis Stindt explained. “We have a clear vision for the future of the site and will work together in the new management team to successfully implement this strategy.”

Ulrich Reinstädtler took over the plant manager position in January 2025. The engineer for production technology and mechanical engineering has extensive expertise in steel production and worked for many years in a leading position at the smelting plant of the Saarstahl steel plant in Völklingen. The experienced management team is being joined by Chief Finance and Administrative Officer Gijs Picard. Before joining Saarstahl Ascoval and Saarstahl Rail in 2023, Gijs Picard held positions of responsibility in finance and controlling at international companies and within the SHS Group.

“We have successfully positioned Saarstahl Ascoval in recent years as a key plant for production of CO2-reduced steel for transport infrastructure. Steel from Saint-Saulve, for example, is used in rail networks throughout Europe. I would like to thank my colleagues for their dedicated work here,” said outgoing President Nadine Artelt. She sees the location in good hands for the future: “With the new management, this positive development will continue, and the industrial location will be strengthened.”
