Successful recertification for Saarstahl:
TÜV Saarland confirms high standards for quality, environment and energy

Products from Saarstahl AG can be found wherever especially high demands are placed on quality, strength and reliability. To achieve this, the steel producer has successfully focused for many years on sustainable business practices. TÜV Saarland has now confirmed this with recertifications in the areas of quality (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949), environment (ISO 14001) and energy (ISO 50001).

“We want to produce steel as sustainably as possible at our sites – for the environment and for the people in the region,” said Dr. Peter Maagh, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Saarstahl. “Successful certifications prove that health and safety at work, the high quality of our products, and energy efficiency and environmental protection measures are firmly embedded in our processes and are continuously being further optimized. This is the basis for successful implementation of our decarbonization project Power4Steel.”

Saarstahl has relied for many years on TÜV Saarland as a recognized and accredited certification body in the area of quality certification. Recertification in the area of environment and energy was also performed by TÜV Saarland for the first time this year.

Certificates ensure customer satisfaction

With its successful certifications, Saarstahl has positioned itself as a reliable partner in various industrial sectors. IATF 16949 is a respected quality standard that was developed especially for the automotive industry. The latest certification thus confirms Saarstahl’s high standard as an automotive supplier. The ISO 9001 standard defines the global requirements for quality management systems that optimize internal process structures and focus on customer satisfaction. Saarstahl continuously demonstrates its responsible use of resources through being certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental standard. This in particular highlights the high level of commitment to the environment and the associated internal measures. As an energy-intensive industry, Saarstahl strives to constantly improve the effectiveness and energy efficiency of its own systems and processes. Recertification in accordance with ISO 50001 attests to the successful continuation of its energy management system.

Saarstahl has also been certified in the area of health and safety, which was assessed this year as part of a surveillance audit. Requirements for a management system for occupational health and safety are set out in the ISO 45001 standard. Implementation of the standard offers companies the opportunity to define criteria for guidelines and targets, and to make them measurable. It underscores the fact that safety and health have top priority at Saarstahl.
