Saarstahl leads the way in sustainability: EcoVadis awards group its platinum medal

The sustainability strategy of the Saarstahl Group has been awarded a platinum medal by EcoVadis, the world’s largest provider of corporate social responsibility ratings. This premium ranking impressively underscores the Group’s commitment to sustainability. This puts the steel producer in the top one percent of all companies rated by EcoVadis. The rating is valid until September 15, 2026.

Compared to the last rating, Saarstahl was able to improve its overall result by seven points to a total of 85 points, improving in all four categories (environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement). An above-average score of 94 points was achieved in the environment category in particular. EcoVadis rated the overall sustainability performance as “excellent”.

Into the premier league with platinum status

“The platinum status is an exceptional achievement that has propelled us into the premier league. It confirms our commitment to sustainability in all business areas, from purchasing to reducing emissions in production processes. The medal also underscores our position with stakeholders as a trustworthy and responsible partner,” explains Dr. Peter Maagh, Member of the Executive Board for Technology and Production at Saarstahl.

The EcoVadis rating is based on a defined scorecard. This includes the criteria of the Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact, and the International Organization for Standardization for the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Specification of defined evaluation criteria enables companies certified by EcoVadis to be compared internationally.
